Tardies
Parents are expected to ensure that their children arrive on time. A student is tardy if he/she is not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings at 7:45 a.m. Students must report to the office. Parents will be notified when tardies are excessive. Excessive tardies will be referred to the District Community Liaison. (Texas Education Code 25.094)
Snacks/Water
Please send a healthy snack and water bottle with your child daily. We will have snack time everyday around 9:30. Remember to keep the water bottle outside of the backpack in a side pocket if possible to avoid getting folders, homework, and books wet from leaking water bottles.
Daily Folder
Return Blue Daily Folders EVERY DAY! This is our way of daily communication with notes and what's going on at school.
Please check the pockets of the daily folder each day for homework, notes sent home, etc. If you are sending paperwork to me, please stress to your child to give it to me in the morning.
Please have your child record the title of the book/she or she reads in the appropriate section of the folder each day along with the number of minutes read. Please initial the reading log each day in the “Parent Initials” section.

England Elementary PAWS expectations
The England Elementary PAWS expectations are guiding principles for classroom and school behavior. They are Personal Best, Active Listening, Working Together, and Safety First –all with RESPECT. We have discussed what each of these items looks, sounds, and feels like in our classrooms and around our school. We expect all students to behave according to these guidelines and use it in our daily language.
You will see this posted around the school as well in every classroom!

*Day Care/Bus Riders- Students will be picked up in the front of the school by their daycare or bus provider.
*YMCA- Students will be escorted to cafeteria/gym corridor.
*If your child is in an after-school club please let me know which club and when it starts. Parents will also pick up in the front of the building when the club is over.
Behavior Log in Daily Folder
If your child had a great day regarding behavior, no news is good news. I will not write in folders unless there is a problem. When behavior concerns arise during the day, they will be addressed with the following sequence of steps:
Warning (W) – Discussion with child. Redirection using PAWS expectations.
Step 1 (1) – 3 minutes Think Track at recess or time away from group
Step 2 (2) – 6 minutes Think Track at recess or time away from group
Step 3 (3) – Call home/ written problem solving session with teacher
Step 4 (4) – Office referral
Please note that the above steps will be indicated on the behavior calendar with codes such as W1 or W2 and a written description of the problem in the “Behavior” section of the homework folder for that particular day.
We encourage students to try and work out small problems on their own using strategies we have talked about. However, when it's a big issue and they need my help, I will step in.
SOME OF THOSE STRATEGIES INCLUDE:
· Walking away or ignoring the offender
· Asking the other person to stop
· Working together to solve the problem
· Sharing your feelings (“When you ____, it makes me feel _____.”)
· Sharing
· Listening to the other person’s feelings
Also, if there is a problem at PE, Art, or Music I will let that teacher handle the issue by e-mailing you directly to discuss it.
